David Boone, Chief Executive Officer

David is an experienced healthcare executive with a background spanning multi-site, ancillary services and health care technology, as well as extensive experience with consumer product companies. A past National Finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Program for Health Care, he most recently served as the CEO of Alacura and American CareSource. David has held executive roles with a variety of publicly traded and start-up organizations including Kraft General Foods, Sears, PepsiCo, Safeway, and Belo Corporation, in addition to serving as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Boone is a member of the Board of Directors of National Western Life Insurance (NWLI) and is their lead independent director. David also served on several private company and non-profit boards, as well as the Lead Independent Director, Audit Chair, and Executive Committee member of Track Group (TRCK). He has a BS in Accountancy with High Honors from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Dr. Frederick Schaffer, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Schaffer is the CMO for United Allergy Services. Dr. Schaffer is board certified in Allergy/Immunology and in Pediatrics. He received a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the City College of New York and received a master’s degree in Nutritional Biochemistry from Columbia University-College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then graduated from medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical College. Dr. Schaffer completed his residency at Einstein University Hospital from 1981 to 1984 and then undertook his first fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children/Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Schaffer completed an additional fellowship at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Developmental and Clinical Immunology and remained at the University as a Senior Research Associate. While in private practice, Dr. Schaffer was also an Assistant Professor of Allergy/Immunologist/Pediatric Rheumatology at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and an Attending Allergist at the Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, Miss. In 2002, he joined the Medical University of South Carolina Pediatrics Department as Associate Professor of Allergy/Immunology and Pediatric Rheumatology. Currently in private practice, Dr. Schaffer is a fellow at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; and the American Immunology Association. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and by The American Board of Allergy/Immunology. Dr Schaffer has participated in more than 25 clinical trials, is widely published, has received numerous awards and is an active symposium speaker.

Becky McEuen, Chief Administrative Officer

Becky is the CAO and is responsible for leading the human resources, HR operations, recruiting, training and development teams. Becky brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources, talent acquisition and marketing. Before joining United Allergy Services, Becky led the global talent acquisition team at Orbitz Worldwide in Chicago. She also held senior talent acquisition roles at UnitedHealth Group. Her other professional experience includes retained executive search and more than 12 years of agency and client side marketing experience. Becky earned two bachelor’s degrees in English and Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Chris Kraus, Chief Financial Officer

Chris Kraus serves as the CFO, overseeing the accounting, financial planning and analysis, revenue cycle, treasury, M&A, investor relations, and tax functions at United Allergy Services. Chris joined UAS in 2015 as Controller before being promoted to Director of Finance & Accounting.Prior to joining UAS, Chris was the Controller for the North American subsidiary of Wincor Nixdorf, a public German company in the information technology and professional service industry.Chris started his career at KPMG in Germany. He later transferred to New York City, where he worked in KPMG’s audit and accounting conversion functions, serving public and private clients in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, software, and automotive industries. Throughout his nearly 20-year career in accounting, auditing, and financial planning, Chris has established a reputation for building world-class teams and aligning financial and business metrics to support business strategy.He graduated with honors from the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany, with a master’s degree in Economics, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed by the state of New Hampshire and a Certified Tax Accountant (Steuerberater) in Germany.


Hugh Spires Jr., V.P., Corporate Counsel

Hugh is our General Counsel. He is responsible for advising executive leaders and senior management on various legal and strategic business projects. He collaborates with the sales, finance and operations teams to negotiate and establish new vendor contracts, and advises on regulatory, operational and transactional matters, including the Anti-Kickback statute, Stark law, HIPAA, and physician contracting. Hugh brings more than 20 years of experience as a trial attorney and general counsel in the healthcare field. Before joining United Allergy Services, Hugh defended multi-million-dollar medical malpractice cases, represented clients in labor arbitrations and employment hearings, prosecuted criminal cases, and served as senior general counsel to the second largest medical center in the Air Force and 14 smaller hospitals. Hugh has also served as a legal advisor to the Air Force Surgeon General’s Office and a litigation attorney for the Texas Medical Board. Hugh earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University) and his J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
